Important Notes:

  • Courses are self-paced and take on average 100-120 hours to complete. Completing a course in this short timeline (5-6 weeks) requires several hours of study per day.
  • Students must be in attendance at AVS for all mid-term and final exams unless a qualified offsite invigilator agrees to supervise in advance, and the AVS teacher has given approval. It is a student responsibility to find an offsite invigilator.
  • Exam sessions take place in mid-July and from July 30- August 2, after which the summer session ends.
  • All teachers are on leave from August 3- September 3, 2019. It is not possible to write an exam, complete a course or to receive any teacher support from August 3- September 3, 2019.
  • Students who do not complete their course may continue working on their course independently for the month of August when possible, and/or when school resumes in September 2018, and should make this request of their teacher before the session ends.

Summer Studies: Continuing students

Students who registered before May 17, 2018 who do not complete the course by June 2019 have the option of working into the summer session IF the course is offered during that session. (Summer session runs June 24- August 2). This may involve a change of teacher at the end of June. Summer course list: BI11/12, CLE10, CHEM11/12, EN10/11/12, FMPC10, FOM11/12, PH11/12, PREC11/12, SS10/11.

If the course is not offered in our summer session there will be no teacher support in the summer, meaning students can continue working on the course during summer if they are able to, but there would be no teacher support, marking or exams available until after school resumes in September.
