Volunteer
ANY volunteer working near or around children is required to have a criminal record check and vulnerable sector search (valid for 5 years) completed through the Ministry of Justice PRIOR to volunteering. This process applies to ALL volunteers regardless of of the amount of time spent volunteering. In addition, each volunteer must complete AP-416.1, AP-416.2 and AP-416.4 and submit them to the school. (AP Forms must be re-submitted each school year.)
To have your criminal record check processed, please following the steps below:
- Email criminal.check@abbyschools.ca to request an online CRC application link. Please include your full name, if you require an employee (for noon-hour supervisors only) or a volunteer CRC application and if you have a BC Services Card Account.
- If you DO NOT have a BC Services Card Account, you must report to Reception at the school board office with two pieces of ID.
Please note: Allow 4+ week for processing. Volunteers and noon-hour supervisors will not be permitted to volunteer/work until HR receives their CRC clearance back from the Ministry of Justice.
If a volunteer already has a CRC completed through another organization (processed through the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General ), they may choose to share their existing clearance letter during the declaration section of the CRC application, if they have the BC Services Card app.
Please visit the Abbotsford School District website for further information about volunteering and to access the AP forms required to volunteer.
