Principal's Message
I am honoured to acknowledge that the Abbotsford Virtual School is located on the traditional territory of the Stó:lō people, the Semá:th and Mathxwí First Nation. With this, we respect the longstanding relationships that Indigenous Nations have to this land, as they are the original caretakers. We acknowledge historical and ongoing injustices that Indigenous Peoples endure in Canada, and we accept responsibility as a public educational institution to contribute toward revealing and correcting miseducation as well as renewing respectful relationships with Indigenous communities through our teaching and community engagement.
I earned my Bachelors degree in Business Administration (Accounting and Management focus), from UFV, and my B.Ed. and Masters of Educational Technology, both from UBC.
I started my teaching career at Rick Hansen Secondary school where I taught Math and Business courses and was the Department Head of the School of Business. I transitioned to administration four years ago and have been an administrator at Yale Secondary, WJ Mouat Secondary, and Academic Summer School.
I strive to provide an equitable and personalized learning experience for each student and to prepare our students (and my own children) to be critical thinkers and help them see the value and relevance of education. I firmly believe in the value of experiential learning and look forward to seeing the amazing things our staff and students are working on.
With gratitude,
Baljeet Gill
